His Temple: a prayer
“But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God— having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with such people.”
2 Tim 3:1-5
The notion is not new, that true humility–as defined by the brilliant C.S. Lewis–is not thinking less of ourselves,
It's to think of ourselves less.
Yet, the world, the enemy, and the flesh twist thinking of ourselves less into the insecure belief that to be humble, means we must think less of ourselves
The solution:
THINK ON GOD MORE.
Because when you do:
You feel His presence and hear the renewing, transforming, empowering, and guiding voice of His Spirit.
His will for your life will be known. It will be desired.
With eyes fixed on Him, you will see yourself as He sees you: His Temple,
Whose every intricate facet is lovingly detailed and planned,
His child and heir,
More precious than rubies,
Worthy of a love whose breadth, length, height and depth is immeasurable.
In these days Lord uproot any and all self-seeking so that we value others more than ourselves. Fill us with your goodness, make our hearts more like Jesus, and a people who only desire to passionately follow the path of life.
Today Lord make us Kingdom builders and image bearers. Today Lord, let us be the temple.
“Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.”
Col 3:12
